SEC Series Single Electrode Clamp Amplifier
NARISHIGE SEC series amplifiers are highly versatile systems for intracellular recording. Designed to meet the needs of the most demanding experiments, they are equally suited to recording with high-impedance microelectrodes, perforated patches or whole-cell configurations. They are also perfectly suited to intracellular recordings during in vivo voltametry experiments. A major technological advance of the SEC series is the full compensation of the resistance and capacitance of the recording electrode, enabling single-electrode recordings with a precision and speed comparable to conventional dual-electrode systems. These amplifiers feature Linear mode, designed for low-noise recording of low-amplitude currents with patch pipettes, as well as Loose Patch and Macro Patch configurations. They can also be used in juxtacellular mode for cell filling with dyes or DNA transfection. Thanks to their many automatic functions, electronic protection, I/O flexibility and digital controls, SEC amplifiers are reference instruments for electrophysiology. They are widely used to study neurons in vertebrates (rats, mice, cats, fish, etc.), invertebrates (leeches, crabs, snails, insects, etc.), muscle cells and all excitable cells, including plant cells.
