Stereomicroscope SZX16 – Evident-Olympus
The Olympus SZX16 stereomicroscope is designed for advanced research requiring high imaging precision. With an exceptional zoom ratio of 16.4:1 and a continuous magnification range from 3.5x to 230x, it enables the observation of whole organisms as well as the analysis of sub-cellular details. Its high-performance, large numerical aperture objectives guarantee optimum resolution and distortion-free imaging, while low autofluorescence glass materials and new surface treatments ensure remarkable image clarity. Customisable, the SZX16 offers brightfield, darkfield, polarised, fluorescence or oblique viewing, with a variety of illumination options (mercury lamp, xenon, 4-position LED). Its 5-position filter wheel allows precise control of the excitation light to suit all experimental conditions. Equipped with a tilting trinocular head and compatible with Olympus DP digital cameras, it becomes a powerful tool for scientific documentation and high-sensitivity fluorescence imaging.
Features of the SZX16 stereomicroscope

The SZX16 is an ideal fluorescence microscope for observing everything from whole organisms to nuclear details, thanks to its precisely designed optics and large numerical aperture.
Advanced glass materials have low autofluorescence and new surface coatings greatly increase light transmission, improving image clarity.
Full control of the excitation light is facilitated by the 5-position filter wheel, which allows flexible illumination for low-magnification, high-resolution imaging.
- The zoom has specific features:
- A high zoom ratio of 16.4:1
- Variable zoom magnification system with parallel optical axis
- Zoom guide system: horizontal handle
- Stop mechanism for the various integrated zoom positions (manual)
The SZX16 can also be equipped with a trinocular head and an Olympus DP-series digital camera for high-resolution imaging and research documentation. The DP-series cameras offer high sensitivity for a wide range of applications, including high-sensitivity fluorescence imaging, and can be easily controlled using Olympus cellSens software.
