Motic Gemmology Microscope GM171 Series

Professional stereoscopic microscope for gem analysis
Precision and ergonomics

The Motic GM171 microscope is specially designed for jewellers, gemologists and laboratories specialising in gem analysis.

Featuring a Greenough optical system and a 7.5X to 50X zoom, it offers precise three-dimensional observation.

Its tilting and rotating base, combined with brightfield/darkfield illumination, provides optimal viewing of inclusions and internal gem details.

The trinocular version facilitates digital documentation thanks to the easy integration of cameras.

Features of the Motic GM171 microscope

  • Optical system: Greenough with 0.75X to 5X zoom (6.7:1 ratio)
  • Eyepieces: WF10X/23mm, diopter ±5, wide field, high eye point
  • Interpupillary distance: adjustable from 52 to 75 mm
  • Working distance: 110 mm
  • Trinocular head: 45 deg tilt, photo port with 50:50 split
  • Base: tiltable from 0 deg to 45 deg, 360 deg rotation
  • Focusing: coaxial with tension adjustment, 125 mm travel
  • Transmitted light: 6V/30W halogen with adjustable iris diaphragm
  • Incident lighting: 7W fluorescent (6000K) on gooseneck
  • Power supply: 100-240V (CE)

Description of the Motic GM171 upright microscope

The Motic GM171 is a top-of-the-range stereoscopic microscope dedicated to gemmology. Its Greenough optical system, derived from the SMZ171 model, ensures detailed observation of the internal structures of precious stones.
The combination of brightfield/darkfield and fluorescent incident lighting reveals inclusions and the optical characteristics of gems. The tilting and rotating base offers optimum ease of use, while the trinocular version makes it easy to capture images for documentation or analysis.

Applications

  • Identification and classification of gemstones
  • Analysis of inclusions and internal defects
  • Evaluation of the purity and colour of gems
  • Quality control in the jewellery industry
  • Training and teaching in gemmology
